Club meetings are held at the Jon Archer Agricultural Center 1070 Schillinger Rd., N.  Mobile, AL  on the second Sunday of every month, starting September 2018, and ending in April 2019. Social Time begins at 2:00 PM, with the meetings beginning promptly at 2:30 PM.

v September 8, 2019    Members will discuss their personal camellia projects and activities and the activities and club projects they would like to see for the coming year.  Bring your questions and opinions for a free ranging camellia session.


v October 13, 2019  The Dirt on Camellias – Jack LeCroy from the Alabama Extension Service will talk on soil preparation, testing, and enriching.


v November 10, 2019   Planning for the Annual Camellia Show/ Mini-Show - Members are encouraged to bring blooms and learn the procedures for entering their blooms. All facets of the operation of the show will be discussed. Show organization and volunteer assignments will be covered.  

v December 8, 2019 Christmas Party/ Auction - Our Auctioneer will conduct this part of the program. There will be no formal meeting; this will be a time to enjoy our fellow club members. The club will provide the holiday meats, potatoes and gravy for our annual buffet. Members will provide the side dishes and desserts.

v January 12, 2020 Everything Camellia- Camellia propagation (grafting, air layering, and rooting), pruning, and disbudding will be discussed.  Bring a wish list of the scions you would like other members to bring to the February meeting.  Members will discuss scions they desire and scions they are willing to contribute. We will also make final arrangements for the January show.

v January 18, 2020 ANNUAL CAMELLIA SHOW - - There will be a Judges' Welcoming Reception on Friday night January 17 at 6:00 pm at location TBA. 

v February 9, 2020    Grafting Demonstration- There will be grafting demonstrations. We will meet at Jim Smelley’s.   Details will be announced at January meeting.  There will be a scion exchange.

v April 19, 2020 Meeting moved to this date because of Easter.  Photo Contest/Annual Election of Officers and Taking Care of Your Camellias: Experts will advise on pruning, fertilizing, spraying etc. so your prize plants will come through the next month’s happily. Members are encouraged to discuss their own successes and seek help for their problem plants. Members are encouraged to bring their best photos for this four-part member-judged photo contest: 1) Best Camellia Bloom; 2) Best Camellia in the Landscape; 3) Best Camellia with People or Animals; 4) Best Camellia in a Floral arrangement. All Photos submitted must be new photos from this camellia season. Annual Election and results to follow.
